Biography
In the 1980s, what seemed impossible became a reality. A remote country, after 21 years of dictatorship, was relearning democracy and witnessed the emergence of a vibrant, rebellious, and almost uncontrollable Metal scene. A musical scene that began in the early decade and solidified in the following years, distanced from the media, contrasting with the image of Brazil of summer, beaches, carnival, MPB (Brazilian Popular Music), and joy. The young people and their musical instruments reminded everyone that not everything was beautiful in Brazil, and the harshness of their songs, like war hymns, clashed with the repressive morals of the time. In 1996, without the current technologies, this musical scene was already respected in Brazil and influenced others around the world. In this context, a young Heavy Metal fan decided to form his band to experience Metal.
Founded in the spring of 1996, NervoChaos is led by Edu Lane, who, with a strong desire to form an extreme Metal band that combines heaviness and technique without being tied to pre-established musical labels, recruited friends and, one month later, released the first demo tape in cassette format. The band has followed an admirable trajectory, with 24 releases in different
formats and frequent tours across the Americas, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania, sharing the stage with important names in the global Metal scene. This frequency of releases and tours has formed a robust global fan base. In 2026, on the verge of completing 30 uninterrupted years of career, NervoChaos is preparing to release their newest album, titled “Chaosmongers” and return to the road, their natural environment where the band organically channels all their ferocity, showcasing why Brazil is a powerhouse in the global Metal scene.
With “Chaosmongers” their fourteenth studio album, NervoChaos expands the horizons of Death Metal, making chaos their main creative source. The album contains 12 tracks, 11 of which are new and one a tribute to the legendary Brazilian band Ratos de Porão. It is a work that connects the cosmos, the occult, and human resilience. “Chaosmongers” is open to various interpretations, rejecting linear narratives and allowing the listener to create their own reading. An entity that traverses death explores unknown realms, faces suffering, and becomes sovereign of a kingdom beyond our understanding. It depicts a personal journey of downfall, self-discovery, transformation, and empowerment. This duality is present throughout the entire album. The compositions act as narrative, atmosphere, and reflection, providing diverse experiences within a single work. Chaos appears not only as destruction but as a force capable of breaking boundaries and creating
new realities.
The album was produced by Edu Lane, recorded in Sao Paulo (Brazil) by Adriano Daga, mixed and mastered by Fredrik Nordström. The singles “Embrace Chaos”, “The Devil’s Man”, and “Lorde dos Mortos” showcase various facets of this concept. “Lorde dos Mortos” represents a milestone for the band, being the first song written and recorded in Portuguese, enriching
their identity without losing intensity. In turn, the visual identity of “Chaosmongers” created by Niklas Sundin, combines images of the vast universe with cosmic explosions and the
energy of the audience at the band’s shows. The central idea is that the chaotic force that moves galaxies and changes worlds also appears in the human experience through creation, overcoming, or collective expression.
“Chaosmongers” showcases the band’s evolution, blending a strong oldschool traditional vibe without sounding dated or like a retro project, with many heavy riffs and a certain influence of Thrash Metal combined with the brutality of Death Metal. The riffs are varied and focused, without unnecessary embellishments, serving the music first and foremost, with the exploration of universal themes that transcend cultural, spiritual, and existential boundaries. It’s more than just an album; it’s an invitation to see chaos as the beginning of transformation.
